NEWS FROM THE PROVOST
Dr. Stephanie Rubain is a full-time counselor at the Counseling Center in the Student Health Center, as well as the Counselor-In-Residence at African American Cultural Center in Witherspoon Student Center. She is in Witherspoon every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. In partnership with the AACC, Dr. Rubain and the Counseling Center work to provide services and support to students and staff. “We are increasing access to services, responding to community needs, reducing mental health stigma and also providing services to students who might not come into the Counseling Center… That is why our outreach efforts are so important,” she states.
Dr. Rubain is originally from New Carrolton, Maryland, so she is new to North Carolina and enjoys exploring and traveling to new places around the state. Dr. Rubain also enjoys reading and spending time with loved ones.
A plus of working at the AACC, she says, is that she gets “to spend time in a place that’s rich in warmth and caring.”
