Originally from Argentina, Julie Paradiso joins NC State after living in Miami Beach for fifteen years. Although she comes from a multicultural family herself, it is in Miami where she realized the importance of diversity and what can be achieved when people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences start engaging with one other.

Julie also embraces the empowering role of education. An educator at heart, she taught English as a Second Language overseas, hoping to open a world of possibilities for her students. When she came to the U.S., she continued to share her passion for the English language and inspire those who come to this land to learn it in order to help them overcome the challenges they must face every day. Before joining NC State, Julie worked in advertising as a bilingual copy editor and translator for eight years. In her new role as administrative support associate at the GLBT Center, she hopes to draw on her interests, experiences, and values to contribute to an all-inclusive and respectful place to study, work, and live.

When she’s not working, Julie can be found reading English or French literature, bird watching, or walking with her dog, Lola.
