Lactation Spaces


NC State promotes work/life balance and supports working parents with the transition back to work following the birth of a child.

NC State has more than 20 designated lactation rooms across multiple campuses to support nursing individuals who wish to express milk periodically during the workday. In accordance with provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), upon request, suitable space must be provided for employees who require lactation support. If you have questions or need assistance with lactation spaces on campus, please contact David Elrod.

How to Reserve a Space

Some lactation spaces on campus require reservations using a shared Google Calendar, while others will require reaching out to a specific contact in the building. Please see the Google Calendar instructions below, and reach out directly to the contacts listed within the details for each campus space. If you find an outdated contact, please reach out to David Elrod to report.

Reserving Lactation Spaces with Google Calendar

  • 1. Sign into your Google Calendar account using your NC State email address and password.
  • 2. Click on the “Create” button on the upper left section of your screen to create a reservation on your calendar, then click “Event.”
  • 3. Add a title to your reservation, then click “More options” in the lower right section.
  • 4. On the right side of the calendar invite, click on “Rooms” and enter the lactation room code for the room you want to reserve and click on the room when it pops up in the list. Lactation room codes can be found in the list below on this page.
  • 5. In your calendar invite box, click on “Find Time” to open the calendar for that room and select a time block to reserve the room. The calendar time will default to 1 hour, so be sure to check the time and duration to adjust as necessary. 
  • 6. Review your event details, by clicking the “Event details” button and then click “Save” to complete your reservation.

Carter-Finley Stadium

Carter-Finley Stadium has two private lactation rooms. To access these spaces, please visit customer service near Gate 4 or Gate 14 to obtain a key for the room.
