Always in Season Film Screening and Director Talk
October 21, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Always in Season explores the lingering impact of more than a century of lynching African Americans and connects this historic racial terrorism to violence today. The documentary, directed by Jacqueline Olive, centers on the case of Lennon Lacy, an African American teen who was found hanging from a swing set in Bladenboro, North Carolina, on Aug. 29, 2014. As the terrorism of the past bleeds into the present, the film asks: What will it take for Americans to begin building a national movement for racial justice and reconciliation?
After the screening, Olive will participate in a post-film discussion. Natalie Bullock Brown, a teaching assistant professor in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, will moderate the discussion.
