Campus History Series: When MLK and the KKK Met in Raleigh
February 23, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
On July 31, 1966, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke to an integrated audience of close to 5,000 people at Reynolds Coliseum. Meanwhile, a counterprotest was held at Memorial Auditorium, followed by a march of members from two factions of the Ku Klux Klan. W. Jason Miller, professor of English at NC State and author of Origins of the Dream, will discuss his research into this little-known historical convergence. This program is presented in partnership with NC State University Libraries.
