Women’s Center’s Slutwalk Event Garners Support and Attendees
On October 1, 2015, approximately 250 NC State students united to protest victim blaming and slut shaming at the university's first ever large-scale SlutWalk. SlutWalk: A Walk to End Victim Blaming was organized by The Movement Peer Educators, a student organization composed of trained peer educators who facilitate workshops on issues of gender equity and social justice.

Dr. C. Ellen Washington Presents at Gender Summit 5, Capetown, South Africa
C. Ellen Washington was invited to present at the Gender Summit 5 in Cape Town, South Africa on April 25-29, 2015. The Gender Summit platform was introduced to the continent by a partnership of regional research funders led by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). Partners in South Africa included the Department of Science and Technology, the Department for Women and the National Research Council, as well as Howard University, USA.
“Beyond the Veil” Returns
The NC State Women’s Center is proud to co-sponsor "Beyond the Veil," an annual program held with the Muslim Students Association (MSA). "Beyond the Veil" features a panel of hijab and non-hijab women discussing gender, faith, hair, hair coverings and meaning in our community.
OIED Staff Honored with 2015 Provost’s Awards for Excellence Nominations
Congratulations to Otis McGresham, assistant director for interpersonal violence services in the Women's Center and Garry Morgan, associate director of diversity programs in Diversity and Inclusion, for their Provost's Awards for Excellence nominations! Otis and Garry were recognized for their outstanding contributions and service to NC State on Thursday, April 2, 2015 by the Provost and Awards selection committee.

Take Back the Night March and Rally to Be Held on April 9, 2015
Attend NC State’s 28th Annual Take Back the Night event on April 9, 7:00 p.m., Stafford Lawn as part of the national movement to free our campuses from sexual violence. Take Back the Night includes a rally, march, and speak-out where survivors are empowered to share their stories of healing after violence.
