GLBT Center Hosts Fourth Annual Potluck
On Thursday, November 16, 2017, the GLBT Center and the GLBT Faculty and Staff Network hosted its fourth annual Holiday Potluck. This annual event serves as opportunity for GLBT students to gather in a place of community, solidarity and care. Nearly 100 students and over 15 faculty and staff were in attendance.
Leader of the Pack: Diversity Peer Educator Victor Eduardo
DEPTH peer educator Victor Eduardo has received the 2017 Leader of the Pack Award. Among several other honors and achievements, Eduardo has worked in the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity's Diversity Education for Our Peers to Thrive (DEPTH) program for two years, helping to launch the program as an inaugural member.
Transgender Awareness Week 2017: Dismantling Gender Roles
The GLBT Center will observe Transgender Awareness Week from Tuesday, November 14 through Monday, November 20, 2017. The impetus for the week of events is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a global, annual observance for transgender individuals who were murdered over the past year, that will take place on November 20, 2017.
Student Coordinators Needed for Queer Youth Leadership Summit
Students looking for a resume-worthy spring volunteer opportunity can apply to be student coordinators for the first Queer Youth Leadership Summit, to be hosted by NC State's GLBT Center on February 17, 2018. Called QYLS (“quills”) for short, the summit will be a full day of workshops, panels, action planning, coalition building and advocacy work.
Social Justice Leadership Retreat Builds Advocates
The first Social Justice Leadership Retreat (SJLR), made possible by an Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) Diversity Mini-Grant, had its 2.5 day intensive off-campus excursion from Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10, 2017.
GLBT Center’s Advocate Program Launches Lunch and Learn Series
The GLBT Center will introduce a Lunch & Learn Series as a part of its GLBT Advocate Program. The GLBT Advocate Program: Lunch & Learn Series will meet monthly and work to advance the content knowledge and skills acquisition of faculty and staff around topics related to intersectional social justice.
GLBT Center Launches Social Justice Cohort
The GLBT Center has launched a new program to provide space for intersectional social justice education. The Social Justice Cohort will run for one semester and bring together a group of dedicated individuals interested in exploring concepts of race, gender, sexuality, ability, age, religion, social justice, privilege, power and oppression as they overlap and intersect within society.

NC State Students Reflect on Social Justice at Appalachian State
As part of their ongoing commitment to engaging students in high-impact learning opportunities related to social justice, the GLBT Center took five students to the annual student-led Equity in Action conference hosted by Appalachian State University during the first weekend in April.
GLBT Center to Honor Graduates at Lavender Graduation
The GLBT Center will host its annual Lavender Graduation to celebrate students graduating in the spring, summer or fall of 2017. The ceremony honors lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally students and acknowledges their achievements and contributions to the university.
