Multicultural Student Affairs, Asian Students in Alliance (ASIA) and campus partners will present Asian American and Pacific Islander Month programs from March 16 through April 18, 2017 for the campus community. The month will include discussions, workshops, dance competitions and cultural celebrations. This year’s theme is “Laying the Foundation, Paving our Legacy.”
ASIA President Rachel Banawa, a senior majoring in psychology with a minor in business administration, encourages the community to partake of the month’s offerings.
“This year’s AAPI History Month events are an amazing representation of the beauty and devotion to diversity that our community has to offer. Though we all come from different paths, the month empowers us to stand as one and to leave our legacy on campus by bringing more awareness to the specific realities we experience as Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. We are eager to showcase a unique glimpse into our different heritages through cultural dances, authentic foods, traditional clothing, discussions on AAPI identity and so much more.”
