NC State Hosts Largest Multicultural Graduation Ceremony to Date
Seventy-seven multicultural graduates crossed the stage in the Piedmont Ballroom of Talley Student Union on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, comprising the largest gathering to date at the third annual Multicultural Graduation Ceremony. The number included twenty-four master’s degrees and seven doctoral degrees from across NC State’s colleges.
Tracey Ray Receives Provost’s Award for Excellence
Assistant Vice Provost for Student Diversity Tracey Ray has received a 2018 Provost's Award for Excellence. At a reception for nominees held in the Ballroom of Talley Student Union on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, Ray was recognized as one of five recipients and the sole EHRA winner out of a field of 17 nominees.
Nominations Open for Diversity and Inclusion Awards
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity and the University Diversity Advisory Committee invite nominations for the 12th annual Chancellor's Creating Community Awards. Recipients will be announced at the awards program on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Piedmont Ballroom, Talley Student Union.
OIED Announces Diversity Mini-Grant Program Recipients for 2017-18
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2017-2018 Diversity Mini-Grant Program. Now in its fifteenth year, the initiative emphasizes the importance of university-wide efforts and endorsement of NC State as a place to learn, work and grow. Projects this year include initiatives focusing on pre-college outreach, undergraduate recruitment, graduate recruitment, student retention in STEM, inclusive practices in academia and campus climate.
Braska Williams: Over Two Decades of Uplifting Tomorrow’s STEM Leaders
Braska Williams has served as coordinator of the North Carolina Mathematics, Science and Engineering Network (NC-MSEN) Pre-College Program within NC State’s College of Education since 2004. Insight Into Diversity magazine recognized Williams in its September 2017 issue with an “Inspiring Leader in STEM” award.
Think and “DEW” Together During Diversity Education Week
October marks the time when students, faculty and staff come together to engage in dialogue, programs and workshops centered on diversity, inclusion, cultural competence, social justice, global awareness and more. Numerous NC State student groups and university departments host a range of programs that span a vast array of topics over the seven-day week. Each year, both the quality and interest in DEW programs increases.

Despite strong considerations last fall about whether to bypass North Carolina due to HB2 legislation, the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE) selected Raleigh as the host city for this year’s annual conference.
Controversial Issues and Civil Dialogue
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) will host the annual Spring Campus Diversity Dialogue on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the campus cinema. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
