GLBT Center Wraps Lunch and Learn Series
NC State’s GLBT Center wrapped up its second GLBT Advocate Program Lunch and Learn Series this month, presenting four topics during spring semester. The final lunch and learn, “Foregrounding Intersectionality in Your Work with Students,” was held on April 18, 2018.
GLBT Center Hosts Inaugural Queer Youth Leadership Summit
On Saturday, February 17, 2018 the GLBT Center hosted thirty-five high school students from across the Triangle area for its inaugural Queer Youth Leadership Summit (QYLS). QYLS provided leadership development, social justice advocacy training, coalition-building and capacity-increasing opportunities for GLBT high school students.
Activist-Scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw Headlines Pan-Afrikan Week
On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, Interdisciplinary Studies in partnership with Society of Afrikan American Culture hosted Kimberlé Crenshaw as the keynote speaker for the 47th Annual Pan-Afrikan Week celebration. Crenshaw is a leading activist, scholar and law professor at the University of California, Los Angeles and at Columbia University.
GLBT History Month Events
The GLBT Center will kick off the 2015 GLBT History Month on Thursday, October 1, 2015 with a Recognizing and Responding to Microaggressions workshop from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in Talley 3222.
GLBT Center Launches New Advocate Program
The GLBT Center recognizes the strong support that exists at NC State for members of the GLBT community and for the work the Center does. This support is evident by the number of students, faculty and staff who have participated in the Project SAFE Ally Program as well as the ongoing Trans* 101 workshops.
Jordyne Blaise Named NC State’s Lead Deputy Title IX Coordinator
Jordyne Blaise has been named deputy Title IX coordinator at NC State University. Blaise also holds the title of assistant equal opportunity officer at NC State and investigates complaints of discrimination, conducts diversity training and develops outreach and programming initiatives.
