African American Cultural Center Library Supports New Research Emphasis
With a freshly transformed office suite, the African American Cultural Center has widened both its physical space and its scope. The addition of Assistant Director Sachelle Ford catalyzed the center’s new emphasis on scholarship with a focus that includes faculty, graduate and undergraduate research engagement.
African American Cultural Center Unveiling at Open House
From 2:00-4:00 p.m. on August 21, 2018, the African American Cultural Center will officially open its newly renovated space. The office completed its transformation to an open plan with new furnishings, paint and carpeting and the addition of a new spacious, digitally-equipped meeting room just in time for the new academic year.

Gwen Hopper, one of the African American Cultural Center’s office assistants, is a sophomore majoring in chemistry from Gastonia. She began working in the AACC this past August. “I wanted to work somewhere that had a community,” Hopper said.

A fully-integrated part of NCSU Libraries, the African American Cultural Center Library and Media Room houses over 7,000 titles and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This peaceful haven is adjacent to the African American Cultural Center Art Gallery on the second floor of Witherspoon Student Center on Cates Avenue.
