Think and “DEW” Together During Diversity Education Week
October marks the time when students, faculty and staff come together to engage in dialogue, programs and workshops centered on diversity, inclusion, cultural competence, social justice, global awareness and more. Numerous NC State student groups and university departments host a range of programs that span a vast array of topics over the seven-day week. Each year, both the quality and interest in DEW programs increases.
¡Bienvenidos a Latinx Heritage Month!
During National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15), the United States recognizes the contributions made and the important presence of Latin Americans to the United States and celebrates their heritage and culture. NC State will recognize the celebration as Latinx Heritage Month (LHM) to be more inclusive of the experiences and identities of our students, staff and community.
Franchesca Ramsey Will Be Fall Diversity Dialogue Speaker
Each fall during Diversity Education Week, NC State brings a celebrated guest speaker to headline the campus Diversity Dialogue. Past speakers have included actress America Ferrera, filmmaker Shakti Butler, activist Tim Wise and author James Loewen.
Do You Have a Program for Diversity Education Week?
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity has issued a call for programs for NC State’s Annual Diversity Education Week, to be held October 22-28, 2017. Registered student organizations, university offices, departments and colleges are invited to host programs and events.
NC State Named 2017 HEED Award Recipient
NC State has been selected as a recipient of the 2017 INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award. The HEED Award is the only national recognition honoring colleges and universities that show an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion across their campuses.
Women’s Equality: A Work in Progress
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences hosted its second annual Women’s Equality Day Luncheon in the Coastal Ballroom of Talley Student Union on Monday, August 28, 2017. Since 1971, August 26th has been designated as Women’s Equality Day in the U.S. The day commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that granted women the right to vote in 1920.
NC State Rises in Minority STEM Rankings
Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine has included NC State in its minority STEM graduates rankings for the new academic year.
Chancellor’s Creating Community Awards: 2017 Winners Announced
Each spring, the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity presents the Chancellor’s Creating Community Awards to individuals and groups from across the university whose projects and practices best reflect the implementation of NC State’s equity and diversity goals during the current academic year.

The African American Cultural Center has announced that the 2017 NC State Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Campus Commemoration has been rescheduled for Monday, January 23, 2017 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in Stewart Theatre. Please join us as we welcome commentator and author Roland Martin!
