During a packed celebration of Black History Month organized largely by a committee of students as well as numerous campus partners, NC State sought nominees from the campus to honor as “Legends” and “Luminaries.”
This year’s theme, “Illuminating Black Excellence,” appropriately included students, faculty and staff nominated for their commitment to supporting and empowering students and causes that uplift the Black community. All of the nominees and the two recipients were recognized at Women’s and Men’s basketball games on Feb. 13 and Feb. 22, 2020.
The committee defines a “Legend” as someone who has provided dedicated service for a sustained period of time, and a “Luminary” as someone who has gone above and beyond for a shorter time but in a significant way.
We congratulate all of this year’s nominees.
