Every year, the African American Cultural Center shows the campus some love by hosting its annual Harambee! celebration.

The word harambee means “let us come together” in Swahili. This open event is an opportunity for the campus community to unite at the beginning of the semester to celebrate what we hope will be a year of growth, and to inspire the community to create lasting connections to support each other in the challenges that may come. 

Undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff are all invited to come to the celebration, which will happen on Thursday, September 5, 2019 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Washington-Sankofa Room on the first floor of Witherspoon Student Center.

This year, we would like to extend a special welcome to NC State’s senior administrators, staff and students who might not have experienced an African American Cultural Center event yet. You can never have too many friends, mentors and supporters, and the beginning of the year is a great time to make those connections.

For inspiration, here are a few African quotes to help strengthen and replenish you, but also know that your friends in the AACC are here to do the same all year long. Be sure to add the event to your calendar for this Thursday evening.
