The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity has added a new equal opportunity officer to its Equal Opportunity and Equity team, Brianna Williams.
Before coming to NC State, Williams served as the Title IX coordinator and AA/EEO Officer for two campuses in the Louisiana State University system. As Title IX coordinator and AA/EEO officer, she oversaw and monitored compliance issues involving discrimination and oversaw all hiring search processes, monitoring each stage to ensure compliance with university policies and state and federal laws. She also prepared the Affirmative Action Plan for each campus and worked closely with campus departments to implement intentional practices to address underutilizations. Moreover, Williams developed and facilitated presentations and workshops for various diverse audiences.
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of South Florida and a J.D. from Florida A&M University College of Law. Her interest in civil rights law in the educational setting began when she had the opportunity to intern at the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights (OCR) in Atlanta, assisting with the investigation of discrimination complaints. She later used her knowledge from OCR to assist her local school district with Title IX concerns.
Williams has been certified by the Association of Title IX Administrators as a Title IX coordinator and has also been certified as a EEO investigator.
