The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity invites all students, staff and faculty to attend our fall signature events, beginning with the Campus Community Centers Open House on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center (see article). Get to know our centers as they welcome you back to campus and all year long.
Also this month, attend the National Coalition Building Institute’s team member interest meeting on August 23, 2018. Are you ready to take your contribution to NC State up a notch by learning how to become a facilitator of prejudice reduction workshops right here on campus? Join our nationally-recognized chapter affiliate and get ready to make a difference. If you have not taken the day-long NCBI workshop, there will be two offerings this fall, one in September and one in November.

The African American Cultural Center hosts its annual Harambee! Celebration on September 6, 2018. Swahili for “Let us come together,” Harambee! celebrates the new academic year, welcoming incoming students, faculty and staff to the community. This year’s Harambee! celebration will mark the African American Cultural Center’s 27th anniversary.
The Equal Opportunity Institute begins its orientations for 2018-19 in September. This award-winning year-long certificate program of diversity and equity workshops will hold three orientation sessions for new participants during the month.
The Women’s Center hosts its annual Chocolate Festival for Breast Cancer Research on September 28, 2018; tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks (see article).
On September 14, 2018, Multicultural Student Affairs kicks off Latinx Heritage Month and hosts a keynote presentation on September 27, 2018.

As part of GLBT History Month, the GLBT Center will host the annual painting of the Free Expression Tunnel on National Coming Out Day on October 7, 2018 and a keynote presentation on October 30, 2018.
October also brings Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Join the Women’s Center for a film and discussion on October 10, 2018.
Diversity Education Week also returns in October with many events planned for the campus community, including workshops, presentations and speakers.

In November, join Multicultural Student Affairs for the Native American Heritage Month Kickoff on November 1, 2018 and Native American Culture Night on November 8, 2018.
During Transgender Awareness Week, we invite the campus community to paint the Free Expression Tunnel on November 18, 2018 in advance of Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 19, 2018

Join the African American Cultural Center for our annual Kwanzaa celebration on December 6, 2018 as we come together once again to celebrate this traditional holiday of the African Diaspora before winter break.
