Symposium Welcomes First-Year Students, Builds Community
On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, 137 students checked in to the 2018 Symposium for Multicultural Scholars hosted by Multicultural Student Affairs. Symposium is held each fall, the week before classes start, and provides an opportunity for incoming first-year students from traditionally underserved backgrounds to connect with campus.
NC State Hosts Largest Multicultural Graduation Ceremony to Date
Seventy-seven multicultural graduates crossed the stage in the Piedmont Ballroom of Talley Student Union on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, comprising the largest gathering to date at the third annual Multicultural Graduation Ceremony. The number included twenty-four master’s degrees and seven doctoral degrees from across NC State’s colleges.
GLBT Center 10-Year Anniversary Brings Community Together
After a rescheduling due to January snow, the GLBT Center celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Monday, February 12, 2018 in the Talley Student Union Ballroom. Over 150 students, alumni, staff, faculty and administrators came to celebrate this historic achievement.

In mid-October, The Praeci Podcast gained some notice for entering a niche not currently occupied in the campus digital media scene. Offering long-form audio interviews, video and written news, the publication has started out strong with several timely topics of interest to the NC State and local community.
Greene Named African American Cultural Center Director
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity has announced that Moses T. Alexander Greene is the new director of NC State’s African American Cultural Center. Greene comes from St. Augustine's University, where he served as chief communications officer and assistant professor of media and communications. He will join the AACC staff on Monday, May 15, 2017.
Gender, Equity Symposium Showcases Research
As part of an increased emphasis on research, the Women’s Center presented its first Gender and Equity Research Symposium on Tuesday, March 25, 2017 in Talley Student Union.
Witherspoon Student Center Renovation Planning Begins
On Monday, April 17, 2017, architects from Perkins + Will unveiled preliminary design concepts for the highly anticipated renovation of Witherspoon Student Center, home of the African American Cultural Center, Military and Veteran Services, Passport Services, an interfaith prayer and meditation space, several student organizations and the cinema.
NC State Launches Bias Incident Response Team
Joining the ranks of universities such as Michigan State, University of Florida, Texas A&M, University of Arizona and other peer institutions, NC State now provides bias incident reporting and response through its new Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT).
