GLBT Faculty and Staff Network Promotes Visibility and Community

Part of the mission of the NC State GLBT Center is to provide ongoing support for GLBT faculty and staff on campus. To fulfill that mission, the GLBT Center coordinates the GLBT Faculty and Staff Network in order to provide an opportunity for GLBT faculty and staff to connect and form community, to supply informal and formal feedback about campus climate, to support and mentor GLBT students, and to connect with prospective GLBT faculty and staff members.

Women’s Center’s Slutwalk Event Garners Support and Attendees

On October 1, 2015, approximately 250 NC State students united to protest victim blaming and slut shaming at the university's first ever large-scale SlutWalk. SlutWalk: A Walk to End Victim Blaming was organized by The Movement Peer Educators, a student organization composed of trained peer educators who facilitate workshops on issues of gender equity and social justice.

Meet Julie Paradiso, New Staff Member in the GLBT Center

Originally from Argentina, Julie Paradiso joins NC State after living in Miami Beach for fifteen years. Although she comes from a multicultural family herself, it is in Miami where she realized the importance of diversity and what can be achieved when people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences start engaging with one other.

Andy DeRoin Joins the GLBT Center as Program Coordinator

Andy DeRoin joined the GLBT Center as the new program coordinator on July 7, 2015. In this newly created position, Andy will help launch the Volunteer, Internship and Practicum (VIP) Program to engage students as leaders in initiatives across campus.

GLBT Center Hosts Second Annual Symposium for New Students

On Saturday, August 15, 2015, 86 students participated in the second annual GLBT Symposium. This half-day event is held each fall during move-in weekend as a way for incoming GLBT students to connect with each other, form community, learn about the services and resources offered by the GLBT Center and find out how they can get involved on campus.

Registration is now open for the 2015 Lavender Graduation, an annual ceremony to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of NC State's GLBT graduates. This year's ceremony will take place in Talley Coastal Ballroom on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

What is Asexuality?

The GLBT Center invites interested participants for the upcoming Asexuality workshop on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in Talley 4140 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. The workshop is free and open to faculty, staff, students and community members. Light refreshments will be provided.
