Gwen Hopper, one of the African American Cultural Center’s office assistants, is a sophomore majoring in chemistry from Gastonia. She began working in the AACC this past August. “I wanted to work somewhere that had a community,” Hopper said.
North Carolina Diversity and Inclusion Partners Meet at Duke
Sixteen years after Benjamin Reese worked to organize the first meeting of diversity and inclusion practitioners from North Carolina universities, the annual North Carolina Diversity and Inclusion Partners (NC DIP) conference gathered once again at Duke University. This year’s conference focused on current topics relating to the conference theme of "Center Staging: Diversity and Inclusion."

GLBT Center Hosts Fourth Annual Potluck
On Thursday, November 16, 2017, the GLBT Center and the GLBT Faculty and Staff Network hosted its fourth annual Holiday Potluck. This annual event serves as opportunity for GLBT students to gather in a place of community, solidarity and care. Nearly 100 students and over 15 faculty and staff were in attendance.
Empowered, Encouraged and Hopeful: Women of Color Retreat
Forty-seven faculty, staff and students of color departed campus on Friday, November 10, 2017 to embark on NC State’s first Women of Color Retreat. The retreat, an inaugural program of the Women’s Center, moves beyond a diversity and inclusion rhetoric and engages in inclusive practices that claim space and reclaim the stories of experiences of women of color at NC State.
African American Cultural Center Welcomes Ronschall Love
Ronschall Love is the new program assistant in the African American Cultural Center. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Love attended Elohim Bible College, St. Louis, Missouri, where she studied theology and earned a master's of arts in Christian counseling. Before coming to NC State, Love worked for the federal government as a program coordinator for the Department of the Army in the Mission Support Office based in Kansas City, Missouri.
New NC State IT Accessibility Coordinator Emphasizes Outreach
