Sisterhood Dinner to Add Day of Activities to Evening Festivities
Held every year to celebrate the accomplishments of NC State women, the Sisterhood Dinner provides a night of fine dining, education and entertainment for hundreds of attendees. Enjoyed by NC State women and plenty of other guests, the night is highly anticipated each spring.
Campus Community Centers Welcome Adrienne Davis
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity welcomes Adrienne Davis as associate director of the Campus Community Centers at NC State. Adrienne comes from the Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill in Durham, North Carolina, where she served as its first diversity coordinator.
Alonzo Fullenwilder Excels in Multiple Roles
Alonzo Fullenwilder, a senior in mechanical engineering with a minor in African studies, is from Wilmington, North Carolina. He began working in the African American Cultural Center in August. He also serves as president of the Xi Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Multicultural Student Affairs volunteer ambassador and chancellor’s aide.
From Theory to Praxis: Intersectional Feminist Theory
This academic year has seen the creation of a program that seeks to take academic conversations out of the classroom and ground the work of the campus community in a theoretical framework. “From Theory to Praxis” is designed to turn discourse into observable action, cultivate community and provide an opportunity to engage with challenging academic thought and literature.
Nominations Open for Diversity and Inclusion Awards
The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity and the University Diversity Advisory Committee invite nominations for the 12th annual Chancellor's Creating Community Awards. Recipients will be announced at the awards program on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Piedmont Ballroom, Talley Student Union.
Emerging Scholars Academy Seeks Student Mentors
The Office of Enrollment Management and Services is hosting its third annual Emerging Scholars Academy this summer and is seeking dedicated NC State students to serve as mentors. The program is a six-day residential summer program at NC State for rising high school juniors.
Chauncey Bowden: Serving Students in MSA
Chauncey Bowden joined the Multicultural Student Affairs team in December of 2017 as the new program assistant. Bowden is excited about working with students and building friendships and partnerships across campus.
NC State NCBI Chapter Affiliate Grows into National Leader
The National Coalition Building Institute is an international organization that serves to train community organizations, K-12 schools, college and university campuses, corporations and law enforcement in diversity, equity and inclusion. At NC State, NCBI seeks to educate students and employees about issues of discrimination, harassment, prejudice and diversity.
Diversity Dialogue to Delve into Issues of Diversity and Inclusion at NC State
Join us at this year’s spring campus Diversity Dialogue on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Cinema, Witherspoon Student Center. All students, faculty and staff are invited to join this dialogue on current and common diversity and inclusion issues being discussed at NC State, as well as on other college campuses.
Angela Gay Steps into New Role in Women’s Center
Angela Gay has joined the Women's Center, one of four campus community centers within the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity, as assistant director. Formerly a graduate assistant in the Women’s Center, Angela worked to develop annual signature programs such as the Gender and Equity Research Symposium, the Women of Color Retreat and the Politics of Black Hair Exhibit.
