Alexis Jackson (she/her) joined the Wolfpack community on Feb. 28, 2022 as NC State’s interpersonal violence response coordinator, an integral member of the Women’s Center team. In her role, Jackson will provide survivor support and advocacy for students who have experienced interpersonal violence, including relationship violence, sexual violence and stalking.
Jackson started in the role on a part-time basis in mid-October of 2021 and has flourished in her interactions supporting dozens of student survivors since then. She will transition to full-time in the role, continuing to provide critical trauma-informed advocacy support to students who have experienced interpersonal violence.
Jackson graduated in 2021 with a master’s degree in social work from NC State. She most recently worked with the Chapel Hill Police Department as a master level police crisis intern, where she provided on-scene response, collaborating with law enforcement on crisis intervention, domestic violence and related areas. In this role, she interviewed, assessed and evaluated individuals. She also coordinated resources, referrals and services to meet the needs of individuals. Prior to that position, she was a master level anti-human trafficking intern with Project FIGHT. In that position, she provided survivor-centered and trauma-informed care and support services while also advocating for victims and survivors of human trafficking to community agencies and government systems.
In her own words, Jackson says, “It’s an honor to be able to give back to the very university that I graduated from. Our students deserve someone who can relate to them and an advocate that truly understands the different ways they might be impacted. I believe there is strength in numbers. Although I am stepping into this role as an individual, everyone plays an integral part in advocacy, in order to change the culture on our campus.”
Welcome, Alexis!
