The Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity welcomes Brianna Elum as assistant director for the Women’s Center.
Elum holds a Master’s of Science in higher education administration from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Wayne State University. She previously worked at NC State in 2017, serving as a community director leading the Women of Welch Village. While there, she created a co-curricular programming model that focused on intersectional feminism and cultivated signature programs that focused on allyship, revolutionary self-care and interlocking systems of oppression.
More recently, Elum comes to us from Florida State University, where she served as residence life coordinator for housing. During her time at Florida State, she served in various leadership roles that focused on mentorship, advocacy and supporting women. Elum co-founded the Womxn of Color affinity group and served as an advisor for the Society of Black Female Future Attorneys and Sisters2Service.
Elum is excited to create a space of empowerment, transformation and healing that allows students, staff and faculty to engage in critical thought, reflection and action.
