The Ebony Harlem Awards of Excellence is the annual celebration of Black excellence at NC State. The event began in 1993, making this year’s 25th anniversary the continuation of a legacy (or “Wawa Aba” from the West African Adinkra) of student impact and collaboration.
This special program recognizes NC State students, faculty and staff who reflect and represent, through their leadership, dedication and talents, the mission of the African American Cultural Center. This year, due to strong partnerships with the Black Alumni Society and Multicultural Student Affairs, the African American Cultural Center will add awards that are inclusive of all of the Campus Community Centers, graduate students and alumni.
The African American Cultural Center requests that members of the NC State community review the award categories and, using the criteria provided, provide the name of one student for as many categories as desired, providing supporting information on the nomination form. To be eligible for the award, nominees must be in good academic standing and without student conduct violations. Nominations must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Voting will be open from April 9, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. to April 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.
The 2018 Ebony Harlem Awards of Excellence will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Mountains Ballroom, Talley Student Union.
