Katherine (“K”) Stone joined the Women’s Center as its new program assistant in December 2017. Most recently, she spent three and a half years working at the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) in Washington, D.C., as a program manager for the Best Practices and Research Divisions. While at CGS, she managed grant-funded projects that addressed common challenges in graduate education by supporting institutional innovations and sharing effective practices with the graduate community.
Prior to her work at CGS, Stone worked at George Washington University for the Department of Speech and Hearing Science as operations supervisor. She also spent five years in various positions at Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) Graduate School in Richmond, Virginia.
Stone’s diverse background, ranging from costume design, public relations, to working in a variety of areas within the university system, provides a unique perspective in the higher education community. She received her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification in January 2017 and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Pedagogy from VCU and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from The College of William and Mary.
