Three social justice and free speech events will take place on campus next week:

• On Monday, November 13, 2017, the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service (CSLEPS) Leaders for Change will host a documentary screening on race, poverty and education from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in Poe Hall, Room 120.
• On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the College of Education will host a forum on “Social Justice in Our Communities” at 6:00 p.m. in Kamphoefner Hall, Room G20. Speakers will be David Reese, East Durham Children’s Initiative, James E. Ford, Public School Forum of NC, Katherine Mellen-Charron, associate professor of history, Erin Banks, Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity and C. Scott Holmes, Civil Litigation Clinic NCCU School of Law. The discussion will cover race, equity in education and diversity in the broader community.
• On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the IMPACT Leadership Village will host a campus dialogue on the word “Dixie” as it relates to the alma mater at 7:00 p.m. in Daniels Hall, Room 464, moderated by Dr. Blair Kelley, department head of interdisciplinary studies and associate professor of history.
• On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service (CSLEPS) Leaders for Change will host a discussion with Steven Greene on race, poverty and education from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Talley Student Union, Room 3222.
• On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences will host “Liberty in Peril: Threats to Free Speech” at 6:30 p.m. in Poe Hall, Room 216. The event will feature a talk by Robert Shibley, executive director of the Foundation for Individual Rights (FIRE).  This event is free and open to the public.
