Chris Genwright, from Mullins, South Carolina, is the new equal opportunity program coordinator in the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity. He comes to us from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a human resources specialist specializing in new employee orientation and reduction in force briefings.

Chris is a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force for almost five years. During his military service, he was stationed at Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Misawa Air Base in Misawa, Japan. He has also visited Aviano Air Base in Italy and Lajes Field in Portugal. After leaving the military, Chris attended college at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.

After graduation, Chris lived in Denver for a year before deciding that it was time to move back to the southeast where he worked for Duke University for 5 years and Cisco Systems, Inc. before becoming employed with the state. Chris lives in Durham and enjoys traveling, reading and experiencing new bars and restaurants in the area.
