At NC State, the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity (OIED) plays a pivotal role in advancing these principles with The Credential certificate program. We are thrilled to celebrate and recognize the outstanding work of the 2022-23 cohort of The Credential, who have led the charge in exploring, engaging, and assessing the impact and intention of DEIB initiatives across our campus community.

The Credential certificate program is a beacon of excellence in DEIB leadership. This unique initiative empowers individuals within the NC State community to take the reins of DEIB efforts within their respective units. The program equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to drive meaningful change, fostering an environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just ideals but tangible realities.

The 2022-23 cohort of The Credential certificate program has exhibited unparalleled dedication and innovation in their roles, pushing the boundaries of DEIB in various spheres of our institution. Kalyca Becktel (Assistant Professor of Communications): Kalyca’s work as an Assistant Professor of Communications is not limited to the classroom. She has tirelessly championed the cause of diversity in academia, ensuring that students from all backgrounds feel welcome and valued.
Jessica Jameson (Professor and Department Head of Communications): Jessica’s role as the Department Head of Communications provides her with a platform to amplify the importance of DEI in the world of media and communication. Her dedication to integrating DEI principles into curriculum and departmental practices is commendable.
Blake Kannar (Payroll Director): Blake’s leadership in the Payroll department has fostered an inclusive workplace environment. His commitment to ensuring equitable pay practices and promoting financial inclusivity sets a high standard for others to follow.
Jamila Simpson (Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence, College of Sciences): As Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence, Jamila Simpson has been a driving force behind creating an inclusive academic environment. Her work supporting underrepresented students, faculty, and staff has profoundly impacted campus culture.
