16 Award Winners Recognized at the 2023 Recognizing Excellence in Diversity (RED) Event

Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Diversity, Sheri Schwab, recognized 16 award winners at the annual Recognizing Excellence in Diversity event.

The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity hosted its 17th annual Recognizing Excellence in Diversity (RED) Event this week, on Monday, presenting the Chancellor’s Creating Community Awards in six categories and the inaugural DEI Awards. The RED Event honors the exceptional accomplishments and contributions of outstanding faculty, staff, students, colleges, student organizations and alumni in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and well-being throughout the course of the academic year.

“Over the past 17 years, these awards have given us the opportunity to lift up the work being done by so many great people who, without it being in their job title, job description or major, have been contributing to creating an inclusive community,” said Sheri Schwab, Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Diversity, during the event’s opening remarks. “And this year, I am very proud to announce that we will also be awarding our first-ever DEI Awards for DEI professionals. It’s so important that we thank our DEI professionals for all that you do and all that you give, and this year we will have a separate award category just to showcase your work.”
